Celebrating Somerset

Somerset Day champions this most beautiful and bountiful of British counties.

We have the single aim of celebrating Somerset and all it has to offer, and shouting this from the treetops. Help us to let everyone know what a fantastic place the county is to live, work, visit and study.
Somerset Day’s work centres around May 11th every year, a day chosen in honour of King Alfred the Great’s routing of the Vikings from his stronghold in the Somerset marshes in May 878.

Somerset Day is enabled by the Somerst Day Community Interest Company, a not-for-profit organisation, governed by a board of volunteer directors drawn from local communities and businesses, and a part time CEO. It is supported by the three administrative regions that make up the historic county of Somerset; Somerset County Council, North Somerset Council and Bath and North East Somerset Council.
