Celebrating Somerset – Building Communities

Somerset Day champions this most beautiful and bountiful of British counties.

We have the single aim of celebrating Somerset and all it has to offer, and shouting this from the treetops. Help us to let everyone know what a fantastic place the county is to live, work, visit and study. Somerset Day’s work centres around the weekend nearest to May 11th every year, a day chosen in honour of King Alfred the Great’s routing of the Vikings from his stronghold in the Somerset marshes in May 878.

Somerset Day 365 building communities throughout the year:

In addition to Somerset Day itself,  we also support communities throughout the year in a similar way to that for the day itself, by offering communities and organisations the opportunity to publish events taking place at other times of the year.

Somerset Day CIC is a not for profit organisation whose sole purpose is to promote and celebrate the county of Somerset as a great place to live, work, play and be educated. We do this by making Somerset Day the focal point of the year whilst supporting community organisations to hold events to benefit their communities throughout the other 364 days.
