Somerset Day is Somerset’s birthday !

We encourage everyone to celebrate Somerset as a place to live, work, play and learn all year round but, but especially over the weekend nearest to 11th May, Somerset Day – Somerset’s birthday !

The Somerset Day Community Interest Company helps inspire pride in our historic county and all it has to offer.

We want everyone to relish in the stunning countryside, historic cities, abundant produce, amazing businesses, festival culture and rich heritage of the county historically known as ‘the land of the summer people’.

What we did on Somerset Day 2020

Covid-19 meant that none of the hundreds of events planned to take place across the County were able to go ahead.

Instead we moved celebrations online, culminating with a musical message of love and hope from Somerset to the whole of the UK, performed by students and staff at Millfield Senior School and Simon Chalk from the Southern Sinfonia – you can see this here Can you feel the love tonight

With the evolving Covid-19 pandemic, we don’t know what we will be able to plan for Somerset Day 2021, but we will update this page and our social media channels as and when we have further information.
