Help us keep Dunkery the Dragon moving

In 2026, something magical happened across Somerset.

The Journey of the Somerset Dragon captured hearts and imaginations as communities came together to welcome a unique symbol of our pride in, and love of, Somerset.

Designed and built by talented students and staff at Taunton College, the seven-foot-high Somerset Dragon travelled the county, bringing people together through storytelling, heritage, creativity and celebration. The Dragon became the centrepiece of Somerset Day 2026, visiting towns and villages inspiring and exciting thousands.

Now we want to ensure that the Dragon's story continues.

Passion for Somerset the not-for profit CIC behind Somerset Day is raising £7,500 to purchase and fit out a dedicated box trailer, provide a pop-up gazebo for events, and cover the essential running costs required to transport the Somerset Dragon to schools, community events, festivals and celebrations throughout 2027.

‍

Why We Need Your Help

The success of the Dragon's first journey exceeded all expectations. Communities embraced it as a powerful symbol of Somerset's identity, heritage and community spirit. The Dragon helped bring together people of all ages and backgrounds, creating memorable experiences and inspiring pride in our historic county.

To continue this work, the Dragon needs to be able to travel easily and more widely, safely, professionally and sustainably.
