Martin Thatcher feels strongly about supporting Somerset Day “After all what would Somerset be without cider? We’re a Somerset company through and through. My family has lived in the county for generations, and celebrating Somerset is what we do every day of our lives through our orchards, which are such a stunning part of our local environment, to the cider we make. For us, Somerset Day is all about coming together with friends and family, in our community, and celebrating this fantastic area we live and work in.”

Somerset Council came into being on April 1 2023. The new unitary council brings together the services previously provided by the four district councils in Somerset (Mendip, Sedgemoor, Somerset West and Taunton, and South Somerset) alongside the services provided by Somerset County Council.
The new Council continues to work alongside the existing town and parish councils and their role is enhanced through new Local Community Networks.
Somerset Council combines the strengths of the five authorities and provides a single clear voice for Somerset nationally and internationally. It gives clearer public accountability for services in the county and simpler access to them.
eat:Festivals is a not-for-profit social enterprise, based in Somerset, that aims to connect communities with the productive landscape that surrounds them, which is good for local business, food producers and for families.
All our food & drink festivals are free to attend, family-friendly, accessible and held in a town centre. We aim to celebrate the great local producers surrounding the festival town by putting on a cracking one-day festival that is low cost for them to attend – meaning that money goes straight back into local businesses; well publicised; good fun; well run and with lots of variety.
The festivals aim to bring a great range of producers and products into the town on the day of the festival.
